How To: Turn Your Nokia N900 into a PS3 Controller/Keyboard
December 30, 2009 in Featured, How To's, Maemo/MeeGo How To's, Nokia N900 How To's, Video
Hate trying to type on your PS3 with the hunt and peck method of using the keyboard? Have an N900? Well, then there is a solution. Just connect your N900 to your PS3 and type away.
What’s that? Your also short a controller? Still have that N900? Ok then connect it and use it to play Halo (when the next update comes out).
Here’s how:
I. Download BlueMaemo
1. If you have not done it already, do our How To Get More Apps on the N900 procedure. Load all the repositories into your phone then come back to this procedure.
2. Now, open App Manager and click Download, then All then scroll down to the B’s and look for BlueMaemo. Download and install it.
II. Establish a Connection to the PS3
1. Open the BlueMaemo app and click on Wait for Connection.
2. On your PS3 Main Menu, go to Settings > Accessory Settings > Manage Bluetooth Devices.
3. When asked if you want to register a device, click Yes. Then click Start Scanning and wait for it to find your N900.
4. It will then give you an access code to put into your N900, do so and hit enter. Wait for it to connect.
5. Once it connects you can then begin using the options listed on the screen! Enjoy!
Reported Issues:
Issue: I can only navigate and use the keyboard for messaging, I can’t push any of the buttons on the controller (X, O, Square, Triangle)
Solution: The developer seems to be working on this, and will update the app soon. Right now you can only navigate directionally and use the keyboard (as well as hit the enter key in the keyboard app to use as X for now.
