Intel Successfully Ports Android to Run on Their CPUs

So any nerd can tell you about the battle that has always raged on between CPU manufacturers in the desktop and laptop world. One comes out with a dual core, so another a quad core, one a quad core, then another announces an eight core. Well, this really hasn’t gone on in the mobile world of processors. About 90% of mobile devices run on ARM processors exclusively (source).

That is about to change according to Intel. Intel successfully ported Android to run on their Atom CPUs.

Intel also said they aren’t stopping there. They plan to port all mobile operating systems to their CPU architecture ASAP.

This could be the beginning of a race to arms, and we, the consumers, can sit back and watch them duke it out while we reap the benefits. They need to hurry it up though, I want my eight core Android device already.
