Yahoo’s video chat app comes early, thanks to myTouch 4G ROM dump

While many of us heard that Yahoo Messenger for Android was working on a video solution, only a few of us thought it would come this soon. Thankfully due to the MyTouch 4G ROM leaked, we now have that ability. Matthewjlian in the XDA-Developer forums has extracted it from the OS and made it available sooner than later.  According to Mathew it works just fine over his desktop. His app takes 1.47MB to 5.33MB and you can download it by visiting his forum by clicking here.

After you download his app to your computer make sure your Unknown sources is clicked so you can download apps that you didn’t get off the market place. To do this on most phones:

Start at your home screen and press menu>settings>applications>Unknown sources

After you made sure it’s checked, make sure you have some file manager like ASTRO or Linda.  After you made sure you have a file manager, connect your phone to your computer and move the application somewhere on your SD card but remember where you put it. Then disconnect your phone from your computer and open up one of the file managers. Click on the app that you just loaded on your SD card to install it. After that point if you click the Unknown sources the app should install and you will be able to use this app.

If you’re a Developer and want the ROM click here and here. (AGAIN THIS IS NOT FOR USE ON MOST PHONES, IT IS SIMPLY THE SOURCE CODE FOR DEVELOPERS TO USE TO MAKE A CUSTOM ROM FOR OTHER DEVICES)

What other things would you like to do with your front facing camera?
