Cyangen 6 is very stable and performant while CM7 still suffers a bit problems of performances.
It is true saying Google apps have to be downloaded and installed apart the rom because, due to licence incompatibilities between Cyanogen and Google, BUT it is very simple to install them, by flashing them after having flashed the ROM. Rom Manager make it simple to get any CM rom and its compatible version of gapps as well, and cyanogen nightly builds are even compatible with last beta versions of gapps.
