Samsung Galaxy S WiFi 4.0 and 5.0 get their official badges

Both the Galaxy S 4.0 and 5.0 are billed as media players, with the only difference between them being the display size with 4.0 obviously measuring in at 4 inches and the 5.0 going a bit bigger at 5 inches.  Other than that, the devices are similar to Samsung’s yesteryear star, the Galaxy S, but without cellular connectivity.  The only lifeline to the interwebs on these two devices is WiFi and feature access to the Android Market.  Both the devices are now official and should be making their way soon to Russia (SGS WiFi 4.0) and Switzerland (SGS WiFi 5.0) before invading the rest of the world.

Where Samsung sees to capture the niche carved out for itself by the iPod Touch, we see two unnecessary devices that can easily be beaten by any other Android device out there.  After all, don’t all the Android tablets/smartphones out there have the exact same music-playing capabilities as the Galaxy S 4.0 and 5.0 and make calls to boot?  The entire idea of an Android-based iPod Touch-like media player might have been novel soon after the first iPod Touch made its debut, but today, we are unsure whether these devices will have the temerity to stand on their own.

  1. Sorry to burst your bubble..
but not everyone wants a portable media device that also works as a phone.
    I am one of them.
I cant stand phones, dont talk on them and dont use them except to text once in awhile.

I have the galaxy player 4, and it beats any ipod ive ever seen or used , away!
    No freaking comparison. lol

and not everyone feels the need to constantly talk rubbish conversations with people ‘just cuz’..
