Samsung sends a Galaxy S II to Cyanogenmod for custom CM7 treatment

We can’t help but praise Sammy for taking this daring step which none of the other manufacters have ever taken.  The company has shipped it’s new, high-flying Galaxy S II to a member of the CyanogenMod Team, AtinM, with the explicit purpose of getting a custom build of CM7 out of them.  We are guessing other companies (yes, that includes you Moto!) will not be as open minded as Samsung, but the least they could do is ship us devices that we pay big bucks for without a locked bootloader, giving us the freedom to do as we will.

As to whether Samsung will incorporate CM7 officially into the SGS II, you will know when we know!

  1. I’ve been holding out for a new phone that I’m sure has an unlocked bootloader, now I know which one to get!
