Sony S1 Android tablet with AT&T bands FCCed

At least one of the two Sony debutants in the tablet arena are likely to turn up on AT&T at some point in the very near future, if the recent FCC filing is to be believed.  And it may not be the S2, the other dual-screened tablet, but the S1 with a single 9.4-inch display, which recently paid a visit to the FCC with AT&T network and HSPA+ bands present.

If you haven’t heard already, the S1 will be powered by a Nvidia Tegra2 dual core processor and will have all the features that tablets usually come with, including Bluetooth, WiFi, and USB (host mode?) for connectivity.  Running a skinned Honeycomb operating system, which could be numbered Android 3.1 by the time of release, the S1 will also let users play Playstation games – sort of like the Xperia Play, but with a larger and better screen and no physical controls.

It’s good that Sony is trying to amalgamate two of its popular realms – gaming and mobile devices – but will this translate to better sales and profit numbers for the company? We’ll have to wait and see.
