Acer Iconia Tab A500 gets the Honeycomb 3.1 update

Acer had promised the Honeycomb 3.1 update for its tablet, the Iconia Tab A500, which was scheduled to roll out before June was up.  June has come and gone, and now almost a week into July, the company has started releasing Android 3.1 to its tablets across the world, which should make many expectant Iconia Tab users happy.  But all is not well, as the OTA update is only flying out to some devices currently, with the others in line to get it in a phased manner.  The unlucky devices will get an interim update which will bring the Android version on the tablet to 3.0.1 instead of 3.1.

A surefire way to confirm if you have the 3.1 or 3.0.1 update is to check the version number after it is done.  If this matches version number 1.41.07, then you are lucky and you now have the Honeycomb 3.1 update.  If not, waiting is the only option currently as Acer has revealed that the complete rollout could finish as late as mid August.

  1. If you search the net you will find out that 141 was/is a 3.0.1 update that started pushing to a500s back in May yet was stopped, not sure why, but was pushed to my a500 yesterday. The tablet info shows it still being 3.0.1 and all the goodies coming with 3.1 aren’t in my tablet yet so still waiting for the official ota update of 3.1. It would be good for you to make a correction.

  2. I just got the Update OTA and when I tried to update the A500 gave me like an error and the update was Cancelled automatically. What I did was to RE-start the device and try again by going to settings and updating. When I was done with the update I still have the same 3.0.1 I wonder what the heck was that update for hahahaha. I hope this help for some people and that I get the 3.1 Soon. I read everything on it and it matches the information but well I guess I will just keep waiting.

  3. Ok Guys I just confirmed the Update. The update was the KERNEL that could be require before getting the 3.1. Have fun guys and Thank you for the news.
