Motorola XOOM Will Receive 4G LTE Upgrade In September

Motorola XOOM tablet owners will finally receive the 4G LTE upgrade beginning in September. Motorola had promised the 4G LTE upgrade would become available this past May while users had to make do with the out of the box embedded EV-DO modem for 3G connectivity on Verizon Wireless’ network. Well, May has come and gone and Motorola has yet to elaborate on why the upgrade has been delayed.

Motorola began sending emails to XOOM owners telling them to expect the update in September. However, applying the 4G LTE upgrade requires that a new modem replace the old one in the tablet. Motorola will need customers to ship their tablets out for up to a week in order to complete the upgrade applied. The process will be free of charge for XOOM owners. Despite the shipping hassle and a week without your tablet, let’s hope it will all be worth it to finally be able to enjoy those 4G LTE speeds.
