AT&T Responds to Sprint’s Lawsuit to Block Merger, the Drama Continues

Yesterday we reported that Sprint had joined the US Department of Justice in filing their own antitrust lawsuit against AT&T in an effort to block the pending merger with T-Mobile. No surprise here that AT&T has something to say about the latest legal blow. The company responded to Sprint by stating,

This simply demonstrates what we’ve said all along – Sprint is more interested in protecting itself than it is in promoting competition that benefits consumers. We of course will vigorously contest this matter in court as AT&T’s merger with T-Mobile USA will: help solve our nation’s spectrum exhaust situation and improve wireless service for millions; allow AT&T to expand 4G LTE mobile broadband to another 55 million Americans, or 97% of the population; and result in billions of additional investment and tens of thousands of jobs, at a time when our nation needs them most.

AT&T responded in a similar fashion, back on August 31st, to the Department of Justice’s antitrust lawsuit. Counsel for AT&T stands firm that the T-Mobile merger is in the best benefit of corporate carriers and consumers alike, stating “the facts will prevail in court.”
