Samsung Fires Back at Apple in Australia with a Countersuit of their Own

After Samsung was banned from selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia (due to a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Apple), the company fired back at Apple with a countersuit of their own. This time Samsung claims the Apple iPhone and iPad are in violation of their intellectual property. The ongoing legal battle between the two companies involves at least 20 cases currently being fought across four continents. In the latest twist of this never ending saga, Samsung cites the iPhone and iPad to violate seven of its patents related to wireless communications.

Samsung also aims to have the Apple patents asserted against its Galaxy Tab 10.1 revoked and in turn hopes to lift the current ban on the sale of the popular Android based Galaxy Tab. Spokesman Nam Ki-yung stated the following:

“To defend our intellectual property, Samsung filed a cross claim for Apple’s violation of Samsung’s wireless technology patents.”

The Samsung countersuit has been filed just weeks before a ruling will decide on whether the Galaxy Tab 10.1 can be legally sold in Australia.
