LG Optimus EX With 1.2GHz Tegra 2 Launches in Korea, Promised to Hit the States

LG Mobile unveiled its Optimus EX in Korea today as the predecessor to the original Optimus 2X as a way to start the week off. The Optimus EX is one of the first smartphones to ship with NVIDIA’s upgraded 1.2GHz Tegra 2 chip which enables the smartphone to shoot video in 1080p, where the Optimus 2X only shot in 720p.

Additional device highlights include an ultra bright 700-nit IPS based 4-inch LCD display, Wi-Fi direct support, five megapixel rear facing camera, aVGA front facing camera and 8GB of internal storage.

The smartphone will ship with Android 2.3 and LG customizations running on top.

SK Telekom in Korea will launch the device first with LG promising the Optimus EX to make a debut here in the states soon. As T-Mobile was the only US carrier to house the Optimus 2X, we expect it to be a natural home for the Optimus EX. US pricing and exact availability have yet to be released.
