Virgin Mobile Launches LG Optimus Slide and HTC Wildfire S, Holds Off on Data Throttling Until 2012

With the start of a brand new month, Virgin Mobile was originally slated to flip the switch on its promised data throttling. Instead, the prepaid carrier changed their strategy and chose to launch some new devices instead.

As announced in two press releases (below) the carrier introduced the LG Optimus Slider and the HTC Wildfire S as their highlighted devices for the month of October. Oddly enough in the same press release it also offered up the intel that its data throttling plans will now be postponed until 2012. No reasons were given as why the change in course, but we’re not ones to argue with good news when it comes our way.

So what can Virgin Mobile customers expect for the month October? The LG Optimus Slider sports a 3.2-inch HVGA display, a 3.2MP camera and 1,500mAh battery. The Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) enabled slider is slated for an online launch starting October 16th priced at $200 and in Sprint stores October 30th. The HTC Wildfire S will be available at Best Buy in silver and for anyone looking to snag the white color version, that can be found at Radio Shack starting October 23rd. The Wildfire S will also be priced at $200.
