Android 4.0 source code released by Google – custom ICS ROMs in the near future for a host of devices

It’s time to switch over from the SDK-based ROMs and get straight to the good stuff – ROMs based on the actual Ice Cream Sandwich code.  The entire code is available for any enterprising developer via Google’s Android Open Source Project (AOSP) servers to try their hand at developing or customizing a build for any device that they would like to (assuming the device is capable of handling the rigors of Android 4.0)

Now that the source code is out, we should start seeing ROMs based on this version of Android very soon.  Sammy holding out ICS for your Galaxy S? Aching to try that lovely new widget section on your Sensation?  No problem, give it a few days and you shall have it, regardless of when HTC or Samsung will actually get this update out the door to their devices.  Keep your eye on our ROMs Section to get yours as soon as it is listed.
