Virgin Mobile Renews Their Promise To Begin Throttling Starting March 23rd

January 18, 2012 in Featured, Wireless News

Virgin Mobile had originally announced plans to begin throttling data speeds last year, but never got around to implementing it in October as promised. Much to our dismay, it looks as though the carrier hasn’t forgotten their promise after all. The company confirmed today that they will reduce connection speeds for anyone who goes over 2.5GB of monthly usage on a Beyond Talk plan.

Even though Virgin Mobile has seemingly renewed their vow to throttle, the verbiage has been left rather ambiguous for the time being. As it stands, the company outlines that data speeds “may” be reduced to 256Kbps or slower for the rest of the month after a user exceeds 2.5GB. Specific details related to the exact conditions needed to be met before the speed is reduced has yet to be disclosed.Virgin Mobile customers can expect the new throttling system to launch on March 23, 2012.Source
