Nokia Branding To Appear On Bing Maps, Regardless of Mobile OS

It’s all about brand culture these days, and Nokia is making sure their brand is not soon forgotten. Nokia’s very own CEO Stephen Elop announced that the company name will be headed straight to Bing Maps, and not just for the desktop version. As elaborated during a Pocket-lint interview at this year’s CES, Elop stated,

“Any property utilizing Microsoft’s Bing Maps service — including mobile platforms — will be co-branded with the Nokia logo. We are clearly placing a bet on the Windows Phone platform; they [Microsoft] are placing a bet on our location-based platform”.

The first non-Windows phone example that comes to mind are BlackBerry handsets, as their manufacturer (Research In Motion) recently confirmed their plans to integrate Bing Maps at the mobile OS level. Anyone else think this has the potential to get weird really fast?Strange or not, this apears to be the first move related to Microsoft’s properties (including Bing Maps) that will see Nokia’s stamp on it in the near future.Source
