AT&T Updates Throttling Policy For Unlimited Data Users: Starts at 3GB or 5GB for LTE

AT&T has decided to clarify its throttling procedures today by announcing a few new changes to the policy. Customers subscribed to an unlimited plan with a 3G or “4G” phone (i.e. HSPA+), can look forward to full data speeds up to 3GB. After 3GB has been reached these users will see their speeds decrease until the next billing cycle starts. For anyone who uses a 4G LTE phone, you can enjoy a full 5GB before you will feel slower speeds due to throttling.

The new changes are a slight improvement from the earlier 2GB of full data speeds before throttling was enforced. AT&T users should note that these changes only apply to those still on an unlimited data plan, not those on AT&T’s tiered data plans.
