Android Ice Cream Sandwich Installed on the Nokia N9

You read that correctly. You can now load Android Ice Cream Sandwich on the Nokia N9 thanks to a group of developers over at the NITDroid Forums. Not only does it work but it seems most features, besides the camera and auto-rotation, are working pretty well according to AndroidCommunity. With that in mind though, please understand that this is a very early build so bugs are expected.

Take a look at a demo the developers posted on YouTube:

Another benefit of this mod is that it is running on a custom partition on the device so the original MeeGo operating system remains unaffected and all this can be easily undone. Sick of me talking and just want to do it already? No problem.

Want to install ICS on your Nokia N9? We’ve done a How To for that…

Now if only we could get this to work perfectly and then add the MeeGo swiping from off screen to multitask feature and I’d have my new favorite Android device…
