Instagram for Android Slams 1 Million Downloads in First Day

The insatiable photo appĀ Instagram, that was once exclusive to iPhone users, has now taken the Android community by storm. Released only yesterday to the Play Store the app officially reached 1 million downloads in just its first opening day. The app hit so many downloads at one time that it even caused the Instagram servers to crash a few times. Good stuff. The Instagram team was quick to release their first update within hours of the app’s launch, which addressed some issues that were crashing select Android handsets.

On another note, the app caused quite the controversy on Twitter and Facebook, as a group of iOS users made it their mission to keep the app exclusive to the iPhone. Sadly, they took to some name calling, but it’s nothing Android users can’t handle. We’re just happy to see the app finally reach the Android community and with such quick success.

After being a long time iOS fan of the app I found the Android app to be incredibly smooth and impressive. Look for our official review on the app in the coming days. In the meantime, any Android users out there just itching to photo document their lives can jump on the Insta-bandwagon by downloading the Play Link below.
