Android App of the Day: Background Check

We meet new people all the time, but have you ever met someone and wondered to yourself what more could be lurking in their past? While running a full-blown background check on a person can take time and money there is an Android app that could give you a little peace of mind. The Background Check app for Android gives its users access to the BeenVerified.com database and allows 1 free background check per month. Essentially, this app is a database of available public sources of information aggregated for your convenience. This app could come in handy for people who are actively dating, concerned parents, future employers, and anyone who is curious about a new person in their life.

  • Information may not always be up to date

How it works:

BeenVerified’s mission with the Background Check app is to make public records easy and affordable to access. The app streams all of the pertinent information you might want to know about a person in a simple format that is easy to navigate through. After you download the app you will be provided with the app’s complete terms and conditions. It’s important to note that these terms clearly state that while BeenVerified constantly updates their servers they can not guarantee that the information will be 100% accurate or up to date. I know most people skip past the terms and conditions frequently, but in this case it was necessart to put this as the first thing people will see. This way you have clear and realistic expectations that this app is not going to provide you a full FBI status background check. Additionally, the conditions provide you with important information on how to use the information you receive.

After you read through and agree to the app’s terms and conditions you can immediately start your first background check. The home page provides you with five different options including: background check, phone search, email search, check contacts, or recent reports. Background check prompts you to enter in the person’s first and last name and the state in which they live. Phone search allows you to check by phone number only. Email search allows you to search by a person’s email address and pulls up anything on the internet that is associated with that email address. The email search will usually pull up the person’s social media networks or online profiles which in turn can lead you to other information about the person.

Once you decide to perform a background check you can see the person’s full name, age, and current address on Google Maps. Additional information is divided into three categories including overview, criminal, and property.

  • Overview: relatives, previous addresses, aliases
  • Criminal: any public criminal records
  • Property: summary of property owned, occupants, neighbors
Conclusion:
While you can always look someone up on Google, it appears that the Background Check app can provide more information that Google’s spiders can’t crawl on. The app’s interface has a simple and clean feel to it making it easy to navigate through the data. While the information provided might not be extensive enough to be used in some settings, this app is perfect for online daters or parents who worry about who their kids are hanging out with. I found the background checks that I performed to be updated and mostly accurate. This app provides more information than you can find by doing a traditional search and is worth at least trying out once. You might be surprised at where the Background Check app leads you.
