iOS App of the Day: Battery Master Free

Owning an iPhone is like constantly being in a love-hate relationship. Sure you love your phone, but talk to anyone who owns one and they will almost always complain about what a pain the battery life is. I feel like my battery in almost always in the red zone and wondering to myself what in the world does 6% mean? Does that mean I can answer that call from my best friend who tends to talk a lot, or does it mean I can listen to 6 more songs on my iPod? Maybe it  means I better find my charger before the inevitable ‘dead iPhone anxiety’ kicks in. If you’ve ever wished for a little more battery information, then the Battery Master app is worth looking into.

Battery Master performs the simple task of informing you how much remaining time you have left for your basic iPhone functions and alerts you when your iPhone is fully charged. I wish Apple would just have this information included as a utility function, but until they do I’ll continue to rely on my handy Battery Master app.

Pros:

  • Automatically detect and shows you the data for your device specifically
  • Charge Alert- notifies you when the charging procedure is done
  • Estimation of remaining time for Standby Talking Audio Video Internet surfing
  • Battery Master Free will automatically detect you Internet connection (Wifi/3G/Edge) and the remaining will be calculated accordingly
  • Simple but useful
  • Accurate
  • Doesn’t drain battery life
  • Free

Cons:

  • Upgrade to pro version is necessary if you frequently have other apps running throughout the day
  • Minimal settings
  • Can’t see which apps are draining your battery the most
How it works:
From the makers of the well-known iHandy app series for iOS, Battery Master is a simple concept but extremely useful in various everyday situations. After a quick download the app’s dashboard will show you at a glance the current battery level of your iOS device. You will also be able to see the exact remaining time you have for standby, audio, video, and internet browsing. After your device is completely charged to 100% the app will notify you.
As far as settings go, there are two themes to choose from with this app either classic or modern and that’s about it. If you have any of the other iHandy apps downloaded on your device, you can click on the icon in the top right hand corner to quickly switch between them without leaving the app.
Conclusion:
Battery Master is simple in concept and painless to use. It’s almost too simple, as I wish there were additional functions as part of the free version that would display which apps were using up the most battery life throughout the day. Besides the minimalist feel of the app it does its job well and I use this app everyday all day. I love that it notifies me when my battery is charged so I don’t have to keep staring at my charging dock like a sad lost puppy. Once I get the notification, I unplug and continue doing what I do best and that’s running my iPhone battery into the red zone.
