iOS App of the Day: I’d Cap That

Photo apps are all the rage these days and it’s not enough to simply take a photo and share it with your friends. For example, if you aren’t adding a 70’s retro filter and cropping your photo into a cool frame, then you might be missing out on all the fun. Apps like Instagram, PicStitch, and Camera Awesome are completely dedicated to enhancing, editing and sharing smartphone pictures, but what these apps lack is a sense of humor. That’s where the I’d Cap That app for iOS comes into play. I’d Cap That lets you capture photos and add random captions on demand. If you’re looking for a laugh and not easily offended, then I’d Cap That is sure to be good for a few laughs with your friends.

Pros:

  • Capture photos directly from app
  • Choose photos from device’s gallery
  • Captions are instant and randomized
  • Option to save new image to device
• Sharing options for Twitter or Email included
  • Hilarious captions

Cons:

• Sharing options are limited
  • Is not integrated with Facebook or Instagram for quick sharing
  • Only one caption is provided for each image, no option to scroll through captions
  • Can’t move placement of caption or change font or color of caption text
  • Captions can be crude, not suitable for all ages

How it works:

Once you have downloaded I’d Cap That, the app’s home-screen gives you the option to either capture a photo or choose one from your device’s gallery. After you’ve selected a photo or taken one, the app instantly adds a funny caption to the bottom of the image. Caption examples include: “I smile because I just farted”, “They hate me cause they ain’t me”, and “I aim to misbehave”.

If you don’t like the caption you can tap on the cancel button (top right) and select the photo again from your gallery to see a new caption. Once you are satisfied with the caption, tap on the share icon (lower right) to either save to your library, tweet, or email the image. I wish the app was integrated with other major apps like Facebook or Instagram for quick sharing, as I have to close out of the app and upload the photo to any other site outside of Twitter.

The app is simple in its concept and design which makes it super easy to use, but I do wish there were more editing options for the captions. If you could change the font or color of the captions or create your own caption this app would be fantastic. Users should note that this app is not intended for anyone who is offended easily and this is not intended for young children. The app does require you to be at least 17 years of age to download.

Conclusion:

I’d Cap That is a funny app made for entertainment purposes. Its simple concept makes it easy to use and is perfect for anyone who does most of their sharing through Twitter, as the app is already integrated to tweet the photos. The captions are funny and are sure to make some of your friends laugh. I do wish there were more features like additional sharing options or caption editing, but the app gets the job done in its current condition. If you’re looking for a way to make your friends laugh by getting random captions on demand, then give the I’d Cap That app a try.
