iOS App of the Day: MovieFone

Going to the movies should be a relaxing and fun experience without the stress of rushing around trying to make it to the theater in time. Unfortunately, I am notorious for deciding last-minute to catch a movie but can somehow never make it on time to see what I want. By the time I made it to the theater, parked the car, and waited in the ticket line the movie is always 15 minutes in. Never again I vowed. Tired of missing the beginning of movies, I went searching for a reliable app that would help solve my movie woes. Thankfully, this is when I discovered the MovieFone  app for iOS. With MovieFone you can quickly retrieve movie info, video trailers, and read reviews. The best part of this app is that you can buy your tickets direct from the app saving you time and hassle at the theater. Ever since I decided to download MovieFone, I’ve yet to miss the showtime and the movie experience has been wonderfully restored

Pros:

  • See which movies are playing right now, right near your phone’s real-time location
  • Buy tickets on the go to any of our participating theaters without leaving the app
  • Get to the theater easily with our maps and directions feature
  • Invite friends to a movie by creating a Facebook event, right in the app
  • Share movie, theater or showtimes via Facebook, SMS or e-mail
  • Save your favorite theaters for easy reference
  • Any info you’ve previously viewed is saved to your iPhone so it still loads out of signal range (or in a multiplex!)
  • High quality videos, including trailers, exclusive premieres and Mr. Moviefone’s Six Second Reviews
  • Enjoy Moviefone’s library of celebrity bios, photos and filmography
  • Catch up the latest articles on Hollywood news and gossip

Cons:

  • Some movie banner images don’t display

How it works:

  • Download the app
  • Take the tutorial
  • Tap on “Playing Now Near Me” to find movies playing within the next two hours
  • Swipe through movie banner images to view what movies are in theaters now
  • To view more details about a specific movie, tap on the banner to see movie title, film length, critics and viewers ratings, plot, showtimes, reviews, and news
  • Scroll down movie listing to access cast bios, director info, or view trailers and clips
  • When viewing info on a movie, tap on actor’s/actress’ name and bring up the Celebrity Info page with bio, photos and filmography.
  • To purchase tickets within the app look for the red ticket icon to purchase through movietickets.com
Conclusion:
With one tap of the MovieFone app you can access everything you need to know about upcoming or current movies playing near you. The app doesn’t require an account to start and within seconds of downloading you can begin to relish in the benefits of MovieFone. The app’s user interface is well-designed with a fresh look and easy to navigate features. The dashboard provides all of the app’s key features, which allows you to get in, see what’s playing at a local theater, and get moving to make your show time. If you’re a movie fanatic or just love the experience of watching movies, then MovieFone is a must-have download for all your cinematic needs. The only thing MovieFone doesn’t come with is popcorn!
