Android App of the Day: 100 Floors

The Android community has been rather pumped that the 100 Floors app has finally made its way over to the Google Play Store, and rightfully so as 100 Floors is one of the most addicting free games I’ve gotten hooked to in a long time. Haven’t heard about 100 Floors yet? Don’t worry, I’ve spent many nights bleary-eyed and squinting at my tablet trying to break through just one more floor, so I could tell you all about this fantastically frustrating app. I finally put the game down long enough, so I could find the time to write this article and encourage you all to get hooked on it with me. Who’s in?

Pros:

  • Free
  • Fun addictive game play
  • Challenging brain puzzle
  • Mini puzzles
  • App comes with 40 floors, more levels to come
  • Decent graphics, well laid out
  • Integrated multi-touch and accelerometer for play on both a smartphone and a tablet
  • Some levels are simple and others will leave you dumbfounded
  • Find a few tools to use along the way
  • You can literally try anything to get the door to open

Cons:

  • No background story
  • Advertisements look like game functions
  • Have to pay to download official guide
  • Very, very, very time consuming

How it works:

  • Download the app
  • Tap start
  • The goal of the game is to get into the elevator and advance to the next floor
  • Tap Green Button to continue
  • After first floor you will be faced with different obstacles including:Ā pass-codes, breakable objects, and buttons and switches that you will need to pass in order to open the elevator door
  • It may appear that the app is not working when you get to level two but keep tapping and swiping and be patient, you will get through this level and move on
  • Keep breaking the mini puzzles to move on through the floors

Conclusion:

100 FloorsĀ relentlesslyĀ works at your brain getting you to tap, tilt, shake, tap some more, and eventually (finally) progress to a new level. I can’t say that I haven’t yelled or almost thrown my tablet into the table out of frustration, but it’s all been for the love of the game. Just when I think my brain has given up, I try one moreĀ maneuverĀ and it’s like the app knows I am about to quit and gives me a glimmer of hope to stay with it. I’ve been playing 100 Floors for a few days now and the graphics are well-designed, which make each level unique in its own right. The play level is challenging and with each floor the puzzles progress and change. I’m not bored yet with this game and haven’t heard from any of my friends in days so I’m guessing they can’t kick the habit either.

There are very few puzzles out there that compare to 100 Floors, and for free you really can’t beat it. If you’re into intuitive and addicting brain puzzles then hop onto 100 Floors and get cozy. This one’s going to take a while.
