Sprint’s LTE Network Goes Live A Day Early In Select Areas, Speeds Look Promising

It’s been a long time in the making, but some lucky Sprint users can now finally relish in the joys of a new 4G LTE network. Reports have started to come in that the LTE network is discoverable and active in some areas of Dallas, Houston, Kansas City, Atlanta and San Antonio. While the official launch for these regions is not supposed to hit until tomorrow reports have the network at 10 Mbs down and 2 Mbs up. That’s significantly faster than Sprint’s WiMAX network and a vast improvement from its prehistoric 3G service.

While the service today in these aforementioned cities is intermittent in some pockets, you will need a Evo 4G LTE, Galaxy S III, Galaxy Nexus, or Viper 4G LTE to enjoy the new speeds. Anyone luck out today?

If you’re not sure you live in an area that is set to receive the new LTE network, check out Sprint’s coverage map for more information.
