How to Install ClockworkMod Recovery on the Sprint Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch running Android 4.0.4

If you already rooted your Epic 4G Touch and plan to use a custom ROM, the next obvious step would of course be flashing ClockworkMod Recovery.  This guide below will help you do just that.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  You should already be rooted to continue with this guide.  If you are not, use our how-to on the same to help you.

2.  As always, back up any data you feel is important before you proceed.

II.  Necessary Downloads

1. e4gtauto-sfx.exe [Link available in the first post of this thread]

III.  Installing CWM on the Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch

1.  Enable USB Debugging on your device.  Go to Settings > Developer Options and tick the USB Debugging checkbox to enable this.

2.  Connect your device to your Windows PC and turn off USB Storage Mode.  To do this, drag down the notification bar when connected and select USB Connected; it should off by default.

3.  Double-click on e4gtauto-sfx.exe you downloaded above and extract it to a convenient folder (for example, C:\e4gtauto).

4.  From the extracted folder, double-click on runfirst.bat to start the tool.

5.  Type in D and hit the Enter key.

6.  Follow the on-screen instructions.

That’s it!! You should now be ready to flash any custom ROM you like via CWM Recovery!!

  1. Hey, I followed this step by step and I even got the part where it updated applications. After it finishes my recovery screen looks no different than it did before. Am I doing something wrong?
