How to Root the Dell Streak 7

Dell Streak 7 was announced in the year 2011 and ever since then, it has gone through various versions of Android. With every version of Android on your device, you need root access to fully customize it and to make your rooting job easier, here we have a guide on how you can root your Dell Streak 7 with simple steps.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have ADB drivers installed on your PC. You can see our guide on how to install ADB.

2. The warranty of your device will be voided once you root it. Therefore, do it at your own risk.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. SuperOneClick (It’s attached there in the first post)

III. Rooting the Dell Streak 7:

1. Download and place the SuperOneClick archive on your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive to the Desktop.

3. Enable USB debugging on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging, check-mark the box.

4. Connect your device to the PC using the USB cable.

5. Double-click the SuperOneClick.exe file to launch it.

6. Click on the Root button in the SuperOneClick Tool and the rooting process will begin.

7. The tool will install Superuser and Busybox apps, therefore you don’t have to download them separately from the Play Store.

8. After your device is rooted, you can disconnect it from the PC.

Congrats ! You have successfully rooted your Dell Streak 7 with One-Click Rooting tool. The root-only apps will now run on your device without any problems !

IV. Flash a Custom Recovery Image (Optional):

  1. note this does not work with android 3.2 … i just wasted 2 hours following step by step but upon clicking {root} android version not supported

    1. Well, there’s no specific Android version mentioned by the developer. So, the procedure should work fine on any firmware version.

Download the latest version of SuperOneClick, it should resolve your problem.

      Thanks!

      1. It doesn’t work for me with the last version but i have a doubt with the latest release of superoneclick ; what’s the last version of it ? (i wasn’t sure i’ve taken the last program)

  3. i was about to rooting my device dell streak 7 it got simm and wifi don’t know the original version but it won’t happening it says read only file system… can u please help

  4. WOW! All these years later and no response to a few simple questions. May 2017 and the tool still gets stuck at STEP 7. I love the play by play in the right column. Sending 149 zerglings…Finding a Froyo…restart as root…enjoy! That’s where the fun stops. SuperOneClick freezes, not responding, waiting for device…STEP 7. On top of that, the dang thing ain’t rooted.
I acquired one of these slow pieces of s**t from a buddy. I don’t mean to be so harsh on the poor thing but man. I just want to find a way to root this SOB, yank this 2.2.2 frozen yogurt ROM off, and put something a little bit better on it. The hardware can’t be that old. Just a fun device to tinker and tweak.
Go to the play store an’ 90% percent of the apps and games are incompatible with it.
It sorta reminds me of the days we played Pac-Man as an RPG like Dungeons & Dragons.
