Android 4.2 Criticized As ‘One Of The Most Bug-Ridden Releases Since Honeycomb’

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been warmly accepted by its users as one of the best updates to the Android OS in a long time. Unfortunately the same sentiment has not been shared for the latest update, Android 4.2. The folks over at Android Police have been documenting the issues since the update was released and have unearthed a very buggy update. Some of the major bugs documented include Bluetooth not working at all, sporadic reboots, significant drain on battery life, and an overall slower charging time. Oh, and who could forget that the month of December is no where to be found in the Peoples/Contacts app.

Android Police even went as far to call Android 4.3 “one of the most bug-ridden releases since Honeycomb”. Tell us about your Android 4.2 experience in the comments below. Are you suffering from any of these headaches?

Android 4.2 Bugs

  • Auto-Brightness Bugs

  1. Mine was horrible. Everything would crash if I wanted to send a picture. Messenger for Facebook wouldn’t let me type at all unless I restarted the app. I downgraded within an hour.

  2. Got a brand new Nexus 7 yesterday and ran the suggested update from 4.1.1 to 4.2 after installing a couple of common apps. The auto brightness bug is very noticeable and annoying. It also seems a little sluggish compared to 4.1.1, but hasn’t locked or rebooted by itself (yet). Think I’ll try to get back to 4.1.1 until they sort this out.
