How to Unroot the HTC One X+ (International Version)

While the HTC One X+ has been launched just a couple of weeks ago, it’s got root access as well as a custom recovery. With all these weapons, you must have enjoyed installing custom ROMs and apps on the device to expand its functionality to a greater extent. All these goodies are great to use as long as they work properly, but once any of these start to function improperly, the only solution you’re left with is going back to stock firmware. It unroots the device and takes you back to stock with no external apps at all. If you want to unroot your HTC One X+, the guide’s waiting just below.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. The following procedure should reinstate the warranty of your device.

3. This works on Windows based PCs only.

4. This procedure is intended to work on the International Version only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Stock RUU (Download link’s available in the first post)

2. Fastboot

III. Relocking Bootloader of the HTC One X+:

1. Download and put both the files on your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive to your Desktop.

3. Turn OFF your device.

4. Reboot the device into Fastboot mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

5. Choose Fastboot option from the list using Power button.

6. Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

7. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do that, right-click on any empty area on the screen while holding down the Shift button, then choose Open command window here.

8. Enter following command into the Command Prompt Window:

fastboot oem lock

9. It should re-lock the bootloader of your device.

10. Once it’s done, type in following command:

fastboot reboot

11. And you’re re-locked!

Great! The bootloader’s relocked and you can now run the RUU to get your device back to stock. Here’s how you can do it.

IV. Unrooting the HTC One X+:

1. Turn OFF the device.

2. Put it into Fastboot mode. To do so, press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.

3. Choose Fastboot option from the list.

4. Connect the device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Double-click on the RUU executable file you have placed on your Desktop.

6. Follow the on-screen instructions.

7. And you’re unrooted!

Wonderful! The device has now been restored to stock firmware and the root access is removed. Your warranty’s back now and you’re safe to take it to service center, if needed.

  1. So, the device is relocked and unrooted, the warranty is gonna apply in this case? Is not necessary to be LOCKED instead of RELOCKED?
