How to Unroot the Motorola Droid RAZR HD (Verizon)

Getting your Motorola Droid RAZR HD back to unrooted state is as easy as pie and it brings one of the great thing back that you lost when you rooted the device, the warranty. As unrooting restores the warranty of the device, you can then take the device to service center without any hesitation. After you’ve unrooted your device, you won’t be able to run root-only apps any longer so better you get rid of them once you’re done with the procedure. If you’re ready, then let’s start the process to unroot your Motorola Droid RAZR HD (Verizon) smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You should have rooted your device using the procedure given here.

2. This will reinstate the warranty of your device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. ES File Explorer (Google Play Link)

III. Unrooting the Motorola Droid RAZR HD (Verizon):

1. Install the ES File Explorer app on your device using the link given above.

2. Once installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

3. Press the Menu key and then select Settings option.

4. Scroll all the way down until you see Root settings. Tap on it.

5. Checkmark all the boxes in there and return to the main screen.

6. Now, navigate to /system/app/ folder and find the Superuser.apk file and delete it.

7. Next, go to /system/bin/ folder and delete the file named su.

8. Go to /system/xbin/ folder and if you see su file there, delete it.

9. Reboot the device.

10. You’re all done!

Brilliant! Your device’s been successfully unrooted and the Superuser app has also been uninstalled. Warranty of your device has been reinstated and you shouldn’t have any problems taking the device to service center!
