How to Install TWRP Recovery on the Samsung Exhibit 4G

ClockworkMod Recovery is known for its features while the TWRP Recovery is known for its user-interface, a smooth and XML-driven menu that can easily be re-themed with a little bit of coding. Samsung Exhibit 4G has already gotten the port of CWM Recovery and now it’s time to install the TWRP Recovery on the device. In the following guide, we’re gonna show you how you can install TWRP Recovery on your Samsung Exhibit 4G smartphone.

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. You can check out our rooting guide to root your device.

2. Your device should have at least 60% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. TWRP Recovery (Download link’s available in the first post)

2. Terminal EmulatorQR Code (Google Play Link)

III. Installing TWRP Recovery on the Samsung Exhibit 4G:

1. Download and place the TWRP Recovery archive to your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive to your Desktop and you should get a file called recovery.img.

3. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

4. Copy the recovery.img file you extracted earlier over to the SD card of your device. It’s the topmost folder.

5. Once the file’s copied, unplug your device from your PC.

6. Download and install the Terminal Emulator app on your device using the link given above.

7. Once installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

8. Type in following command into the app:

cd /sdcard/

9. Next, issue the following command:

dd if=./recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p13

10. It’ll install the recovery on your device. Once it’s done, issue the following command and you should be in recovery mode:

reboot recovery

11. You’re all set!

Brilliant! Your Exhibit 4G now has a custom recovery called TWRP with full-touch and you are no longer required to press physical keys to perform actions in the recovery mode!

  2. One thing that might help if you are having problems is when you open Terminal Emulator you must type “su” (without quotation marks) and hit enter first. This will give you super user permission.
