Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 Update Is Now In The Hands Of Testers, New Radios On Board

Perk up G-Nex users, this story is for you! We know you’ve been desperately waiting for an OS update and it looks like good news has finally arrived. Just a few short days ago Verizon Support took to Twitter to announce that an update was coming soon for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.  While that got everything’s attention, we were still unsure if the what the update would entail and if it would bump the device all the way to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Now it looks as though this update will in fact be the 4.2.2 gem we’ve all been waiting for.

Most of you are fairly familiar with the work of XDA Developers and one long-time member El Madhatter has previously come up with earlier test builds for the Galaxy Nexus. So  it’s safe to assume that if he gets a build then it’s legit. DroidLife contacted him directly and asked if his Galaxy Nexus had received 4.2.2 (Build JDQ39) yet and he confirmed that he had received it and sent a screenshot as proof. Note that new radios FK01 and FK02 are also listed under the system update information.

Seeing that 4.2.2 has already made its way to testers is a solid indication that the update will roll out soon for other Galaxy Nexus owners.  El Madhatter has created an XDA thread (link below) where you can stalk the update’s development on your own. We’ll keep an eye on the update file as well and let you all know as soon as it’s available.
