How to Install TWRP Recovery on the LG Optimus G (Sprint)

Sick and tired of using the same old fashioned ClockworkMod Recovery and looking for a new custom recovery for your LG Optimus G (Sprint) smartphone? TeamWin’s got you covered. TeamWin offers a really nice custom recovery that enables you to flash custom ROMs, Mods, make nandroid backups and other various useful operations you could do on your device. The aforementioned device has been able to get the recovery ported for it and this guide covers how you can install it on your device. Make sure you follow all the steps to the letter to avoid any issues and have a successful installation process. And here you go:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Check this guide out to root your device.

2. This will replace your current recovery with the TWRP Recovery.

3. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. TWRP Recovery Image (Download the latest version of the Recovery)

2. Fastboot

III. Installing TWRP Recovery on the LG Optimus G (Sprint):

1. Download and place both the files to your Desktop.

2. Unzip files from both the archives to your Desktop. You should get fastboot.exe along with some other files.

3. Turn OFF your device.

4. Reboot the device into Fastboot mode. To do that, simply hold down the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together for a few seconds.

5. Connect the device to your PC via USB cable.

6. Launch a Command Prompt Window on the Desktop of your PC. To do so, press and hold the Shift button on your keyboard and right-click on any empty area on the screen, then choose Open command window here.

7. Type in following command into the Command Prompt. Make sure to replace recoveryfilename.img with the actual name of the Recovery Image you downloaded.

fastboot flash recovery recoveryfilename.img

8. Once the recovery’s flashed on your device, issue the following command:

fastboot reboot

9. Your device will reboot.

10. And you’re all done!

Brilliant! You’ve successfully installed TWRP Recovery on your device and you can now access it and enjoy flashing ROMs!
