Instagram Unveils New “Photos of You” Feature, Allows You to Tag Your Friends Like Facebook

Instagram unveiled a new feature in an update to both their Android and iOS apps today called “Photos of You.” Yes you guessed it, this is a new way to tag people or things your photos much like how Facebook works.

The “Photos of You” feature provides devout Instagram users with a new way to focus specifically on your friends during the pre-upload section of recently snapped pics. After you’ve gotten your photo filter on or made your usual image edits, you will now notice that the “Share Photo” section has an “Add people” box. Tap in that box and you’ll be sent to your image which will allow you to tap areas that you wish to tag people with. The feature also allows you to tag multiple people or things at once.

You’ll also see in your profile page a new tab starring the “Photos of You” section, which will allow you to lurk through every photo that your friends have kindly captured of you.

A little black icon in the bottom left corner of the image will indicate that the image has been tagged and to view images with tagged people, a single tap will bring up and tags. And in case any of this went over your head, you can read more about the update straight from the horse’s mouth on the official Instagram Blog.

Instagram for iOS version 3.5 is currently available for download in Apple’s App Store, and Instagram for Android version 3.5 is now available on Google Play.
