How to Disable the Windows Store in Windows 8

Windows 8 brings with it a new app called Windows Store from where you can get Metro apps for your PC. If you’re not a fan of such apps and don’t want the Windows Store to be there, then you can easily remove it. The procedure to do so is outlined below and you’ll be done with it in no time. Here you go:

I. Disabling the Windows Store in Windows 8:

1. Press the Windows Logo+R keys together and the Run dialog box will appear.

2. Type in gpedit.msc and hit Enter.

3. Navigate to the following directory in the Local Group Policy Editor:

User Configuration>>Administrative Templates>>Windows Components>>Store

4. In the right-hand side, you’ll see an entry labeled as Turn off the Store application. Double-click on it.

5. When it opens, select Enabled and then hit Apply.

6. Now open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows Logo+R keys together.

7. Type in following command into the box:

gpupdate /force

gpupdate forced
Type in the above mentioned command and hit Enter

8. And you’re done!

Great! The next time you open the Windows Store app, you will get a message saying that it’s not available on your PC!
