How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562

The Samsung Galaxy Duos S7562 is a dual-SIM version of the original Samsung Galaxy S, that made waves way back in 2010.  The device is similar in most respects to the original version right down to its 4-inch display, 5MP camera, and the 1GHz processor.  This guide below will show you how to root the newer one and enable you to install any root-requiring apps that you have always wanted.  Read on then to root the Samsung Galaxy S Duos S7562.

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Charge your device to 75% or more and back up anything you feel is important before you start.

2.  Make sure that you have installed the proper drivers before you begin.  If you are not sure, install Samsung Kies which should take care of installing the most necessary drivers for this procedure.

II.  Necessary Downloads

Galaxy S Duos S7562 Droidiser Rooting Kit.zip

III.  Installing Temporary ClockworkMod Recovery

1.  Extract Galaxy S Duos S7562 Droidiser Rooting Kit.zip to a folder on your desktop.

2.  From the extracted folder, again extract odin.zip.

3.  Double-click on Odin3 v1.85.exe to run Odin.

4.  Click on the PDA button and navigate to the location of recovery.tar. [This should be available in the folder you extracted above]

5.  Power down your device and put it into Download mode.  To do this, hold Volume Down + Home and press the Power button until you see the Samsung logo.  On the next screen, press the Volume Up button to continue to Download mode.

6.  Connect  your device to your PC using a compatible microUSB cable.  Your PC should now detect your device in Download mode and install the necessary drivers.  Once that is done, the ID:COM field on Odin should light up yellow, signifying that Odin has properly detected your device.

7.  Make sure that only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time are ticked under the Option section.

8.  Remove the battery cover of your device.

9.  Click on Start to flash the custom recovery to your device.

10.   As soon as Odin says PASS and the device starts to reboot and vibrates, remove the battery.  This will prevent your device from overwriting the custom recovery with stock recovery.  If you fail in doing this, follow the above steps again.

11.  Put the battery back in and power on your device.

You will have temporary custom recovery installed which means you can flash unofficial zip files to your device!

IV.  Rooting the Galaxy S Duos

1.  Connect your device again to your PC and copy the CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip to your device’s SD card.

2.  Disconnect, power down your device and boot into ClockworkMod Recovery.  To do this, hold the Volume Up + Volume Down + Home + Power buttons (with the device off) until you see the Samsung logo and your device boots into CWM.  Use the Volume Up and Down buttons to navigate and the Home button to select your preferred option.

3.  Choose Install zip from SD card and then Choose zip from external SD card or Choose zip from internal SD card.depending on where you have placed the CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip file.

4.  Navigate to the location of CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip and select it.

5.  Select Yes on the next screen to start flashing the CWM-Superuser-3.1.3.zip file.

6.  Once the flashing is done, select the reboot option in main menu.

Your device should now be rooted once it reboots!

V.  Installing Permanent ClockworkMod Recovery

If you reboot to recovery after you have rooted, you’ll find the old stock recovery instead of the ClockworkMod Recovery you just installed.  If you want a more permanent ClockworkMod Recovery, use our guide on the same here.

  1. I have followed the steps and got temporary CWM. However when i try to install zip of CWM-SuperSu it says it cannot mount sdcard or Even emmc (Build: IMM76I.S7562XXBMF2, Baseband: S7562DDBMD1)

      1. I don’t think rooting a device will improve the performance of it, but after rooting you can use certain apps(like Seeder, Greenify, Titanium backup, Lucky patcher, Nandroid manager, Rom Toolbox, Online Nandroid, SuperUser), Custom ROM, build.props to manipulate the system according to your will that is as your expectations mentioned above..

  2. I am getting “failed to verify whole-file signature” after performing step 5 of “IV. ROOTING THE GALAXY S DUOS”. Plz help.

      1. How have you fixed this issue ? I am struggling at this stage. The error is the same as yours – it says “failed to verify whole-file signature”.

  8. Hello,
When I press , Volume Down + Home + Power Button
It doesn’t show the downloading screen mode ,
    instead it shows this:
    Check out the picture
    5 options
    Full Test
    Item Test
    Test Report
    Clear eMMC
    Reboot.

so , how to root it without getting into downloading mode?

  9. I have a problem with this procedure after having installed CWM-recovery with Odino.
    1) trying to reboot with CWM-recovery right after the installation (so, having copied in the SD card the needed zip beforehand), CWM-recovery cannot mount the external SD card (nor internal)
    2) Alternatively, restarting the phone normally, then turning it of and trying to reboot with CWM-recovery, it doesn’t work: the usual android recovery is loaded. Then, when I try to install superuser, I get the usual error “failed to verify whole-file signature”.

Is there any solution for this problem?

    1. try to go into “mount and storage” and then try to mount your sdcard and emmc manually, Sciu. For the signature verification falure, try to turn off signature verification in CWM.

      1. In cwm manualy mount sd card also not working …i tried every option to mount incwm….but in vain…not helping …please telll how to solve mounting problem

    1. Randhir, the guide above will install a temporary clockworkmod recovery, so you can get superuser access. For Backup, etc, you’ll need to install CWM permanently, check section 5 of the guide.
I am guessing you aren’t booting into the temp CWM but into stock recovery, which is when you get the sdcard error message
