How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Huawei Evolution

Got a rooted Huawei Evolution smartphone and wish to flash a custom recovery on it? No problem, here’s how you can do that. A custom recovery’s useful in many terms, you can flash ROMs, take backups and go above and beyond your expectations. So, here’s how you can do that:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have done our How to Root the Huawei Evolution procedure.

2. Make sure your device has at least 60% of battery life left.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Flash Image

2. ClockworkMod Recovery Image

3. Terminal EmulatorQR Code (Google Play Link)

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Huawei Evolution:

1. Place both the files you downloaded to your Desktop.

2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy both – flash image and recovery image – files over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once both have been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Install the Terminal Emulator app on your device using the link given above.

6. Once it’s been installed, open it from your App Drawer.

7. Type in following commands into the Terminal:

su
mount -o remount,exec /dev/block//vold/179:1 /sdcard
cd /sdcard/
./flash_image recovery recovery.img

8. It should flash the recovery on your device.

9. Once it’s been flashed, reboot your device.

10. And you’re done!

Awesome! Your device has been successfully equipped with a custom recovery and now feel free to enjoy any custom ROMs available out there!
