How to Root the HTC One X+ (AT&T)

It took a while for the developers to come up with a root method for the AT&T HTC One X+ smartphone, but they did it finally. If you’re rocking a One X+ from AT&T then you’ll be glad to know that you can now root your device and get all those root-only apps running on it. Root method’s been integrated into a simple toolkit for users’ convenience and the procedure below shows how you can use it to gain root on your device.

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. You must have unlocked bootloader of your device. You can do so from here.

3. This flashes a custom recovery as well on your device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. AIO Toolkit (Download link’s given in the first post)

III. Rooting the HTC One X+ (AT&T):

1. Place the AIO Toolkit archive on your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Double-click on the toolkit’s executable file and it should launch.

4. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

5. Once it’s been enabled, plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

6. Now in the toolkit, click TWRP ATT/Telus and hit Flash Recovery.

7. It’ll flash the recovery on your device.

8. Once the recovery’s been flashed, click on Perm Root and hit Run.

9. It’ll root your device.

10. And you’re all done!

Brilliant! Within just a few clicks, you’ve got a custom recovery as well as root-access on your lovely HTC One X+ (AT&T) smartphone!

IV. Flash a Custom ROM (Optional):

  1. Hi, I’m stuck on installing TWRP, when I click flash recovery, One window says “no device” and another says recovery sent. It won’t let me proceed any further. USB debugging is enabled.

    1. Nevermind, I found a way around. I had to click Flash Custom Recovery then navigate to the TWRPNA file. Installed it and got SU installed. Thanks for the Root guide!!!

  2. Does this process simply root the phone and leave sense on it? I want to root my phone, but would not like to flash any ROMs or anything.

    Thanks
