How to Root the Vizio VTAB1008

If you happen to have a Vizio VTAB1008 tablet, then you would be glad to know that you can now root your device. Yes, that means plenty of root-only apps available out there can now be installed on your device and you can even modify system settings. Here’s how you can root your Vizio VTAB1008:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. You must have a Windows 7 (64-bit) PC to do this procedure.

3. You should have PDANet drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, get them from here.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Root Package (It’s attached in the second post)

III. Rooting the Vizio VTAB1008:

1. Place the Root Package archive onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Enable the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Applications>>Development>>USB debugging.

4. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

5. Double-click on runme.bat file available on your Desktop and it’ll start rooting your device.

6. Your device will reboot once it’s rooted.

7. And you’re done!

Brilliant! You’ve successfully rooted your Vizio VTAB1008 using the one-click method. Now go and enjoy root-only apps on your device!

  1. Is this for Vizio tablets running Honeycomb? I was under the impression that the HC update was unrootable.

  2. Mahesh, thank you for this info. But a quick question, where is the root package you said was in the second post? The link takes you to XDA Developers, and it says right there that there is no way to root after the software update.
