How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Pantech Crossover
So you have finally decided to give custom ROMs a shot? Great. But before you can flash a custom ROM on your device, you’re gonna need a custom recovery. The stock recovery that comes preloaded with your firmware doesn’t provide options to flash third-party zips but a custom recovery does. So, here’s how you can flash a custom recovery on your Pantech Crossover:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have done our How to Root the Pantech Crossover procedure.
2. This should flash the ClockworkMod Recovery on your device.
3. Make sure your device has at least 60% of battery life left.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. ClockworkMod Recovery Image
2. Flash Image
3. Terminal Emulator — QR Code (Google Play Link)
III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Pantech Crossover:
1. Place CWM Recovery Image as well as Flash Image on your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the Flash Image archive over to your Desktop.
3. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
4. Copy both Recovery Image as well as Flash Image over to the root of your SD card.
5. Once both have been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
6. Now head on over to Google Play and download and install the Terminal Emulator app on your device.
7. Once it’s been installed, launch it from your App Drawer.
8. Type in following commands into the app:
cd /sdcard/
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img
9. You need to enter the second command two times, therefore we’ve included it twice in the above code.
10. It should flash the CWM Recovery on your device.
11. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.
12. And you’re done!
Awesome! You’ve successfully flashed CWM Recovery on your Pantech Crossover and now is the perfect time to flash some custom ROMs!
