Moborobo: Cross-Platform Contact Transfers, Batch Installs for Apps, and More (Sponsored)

Moborobo is a neat little free program for Windows that has some useful abilities. While Moborobo themselves seem to be keen on pushing some of these features to be used by cell phone vendors, and telecom operators, I seem a much better use for us tinkerers. Let me explain.

Firstly, this program has the ability to transfer contacts, not just from one device to another, but from one operating system to another. This comes in handy for anyone switching from an iPhone to an Android phone for example. You can plug in the iPhone, export the contacts, then plug in your Android device and click Import. Simple.

Another neat feature Moborobo has that a lot of the backup programs I’ve seen don’t have is the ability to backup the normal contacts, photos, etc. but also texts. I’m not sure why you’d need to keep texts, but it’s a question I get asked a lot. Girls that want to keep their ex-boyfriends texts for blackmail down the road, perhaps? Either way, Moborobo can do this simply by plugging in, clicking on Texts, and clicking Export/Import.

While we’re on the subject of text messages, Moborobo can also send text messages from the device. This allows you to plug your phone into your computer to let it charge and while it’s plugged in you can send and receive texts using the PC and, more importantly, the PC keyboard. Mmmm… Actual keys…

For those of you with root access, here’s a feature that might come in handy. Moborobo has the ability to bulk uninstall system apps. That means that once you have root access (using one of our how to’s, of course), you can plug in, check off all the system apps you want to remove (like all that carrier bloatware for example, or maybe remove some apps from that ROM you just flashed that you don’t like), and then click uninstall to have them all uninstalled at once.

If you flash a lot of ROMs, you’re probably frustrated with having to reinstall all of your favorite apps over and over again every time you flash a new one. Simply go to Apps then check all of your installed User Apps and click Export All. Then, after flashing the new ROM, click on User Apps, then Install, then select all of the apps you want to reinstall, and click OK.
