How to Remove Bloatware from the LG Optimus Black

Want to remove the bloatware that has been loaded on your LG Optimus Black smartphone? No problem, this guide should help you do that. Apps called bloatware are nothing but the default apps that the manufacturer includes with the stock firmware and thinks these will be useful to you. While it may appear good for some users, others may not like it and would like to remove such apps. Here’s how you can remove those apps (bloatware) from your LG Optimus Black smartphone:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the LG Optimus Black procedure and root your device first.

2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. Our guide on the same should help you do that.

3. You must be running Android ICS firmware on your device.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. ICS Debloater (Download link’s given in the first post)

III. Removing Bloatware from the LG Optimus Black:

1. Download and place the ICS Debloater zip onto your Desktop.

2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Debloater zip over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once it’s been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Head over to Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.

6. Once the app’s been installed, launch it from your App Drawer.

7. Select Recovery option in the app and your device should reboot into the CWM Recovery mode.

8. From the Recovery menu, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

9. Choose the Debloater zip to be flashed on your device.

10. It’ll start flashing the zip on your device, should take a minute or two to finish.

11. Once the zip has been flashed, reboot your device.

12. And you’re all done!

Great! Now as soon as you boot your device, you should see that all the bloatware apps are gone!
