How to Root the ZTE Blade 2

Got a shiny new ZTE Blade 2 smartphone and want to root it? Probably to get more apps and custom development love? No problem, here’s how you can do that. Rooting the ZTE Blade 2 is as easy as pie and here’s how you can go about doing it:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. This procedure should work on Windows based PCs only.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Recovery (Download link’s given in the first post)

2. Superuser (Download link’s given in the first post)

3. Fastboot

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the ZTE Blade 2:

1. Place all three files you’ve downloaded to your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by heading to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

4. Once it’s been enabled, plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Copy the Superuser file over to the root of your SD card.

6. Now open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do so, simply hold down the Shift button and right-click anywhere on your Desktop and choose Open command window here.

7. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window:

adb reboot bootloader

8. Your device should reboot into the bootloader mode.

9. Now issue the following command to flash the recovery on your device:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

10. Once the recovery’s been flashed, issue the following command:

fastboot reboot

11. Your device should reboot.

12. You’re done!

Brilliant! You’ve successfully flashed a custom recovery on your device, now let’s see how you can root your device.

IV. Rooting the ZTE Blade 2:

1. Turn OFF your device.

2. Pull the battery out of your device.

3. Put it back in after a few seconds.

4. Now press and hold the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together for a couple of seconds.

5. Your device should reboot into the Recovery mode.

6. From the Recovery menu, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

7. Choose the Superuser ZIP you copied earlier to be flashed on your device.

8. It’ll start flashing the ZIP on your device.

9. Once the flashing’s done, reboot your device.

10. And you’re all done!

Wonderful! You’ve successfully rooted your device. You now have a working custom recovery up and running on your device along with root-access!

  1. i did it all but when i am on the adb reboot bootloader the phone is rebooth but never start and now dont pass of there, what should i do now?
