How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T)

The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T) is one of those Android smartphones that can be overclocked and unlocked for the best performance they can ever provide. Overclocking is just a matter of flashing a custom kernel, using some apps to increase clock speed and you’re good to go. Here’s how you can overclock your Galaxy Note 2 from AT&T and get the best speeds out of it:

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T) procedure and first root your device.

2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. Our guide on the same should help you do that.

II. Make a Backup:

1. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app on your device.

2. Open the app from your App Drawer.

3. Tap on the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.

4. Once there, select backup and restore followed by backup.

5. It’ll create a backup of your current firmware and save it on your device.

6. You’re done!

III. Downloading Required Files:

1. SaberKernel (Download link’s available in the first post)

IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T):

1. Download and place the SaberKernel zip onto your Desktop.

2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the Kernel zip file over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once it has been copied, unplug your device from your PC.

5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

6. Hit the Recovery option to reboot your device into Recovery mode.

7. Once inside Recovery, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.

8. Choose the Kernel zip file you copied earlier to be flashed on your device.

9. It should begin flashing the kernel on your device, should take a couple of minutes to finish flashing the file.

10. Once the kernel has been flashed, reboot your device.

11. You’re all done!

V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T):

1. Download and install any of these apps on your device:

SetCPU

AnTuTu CPU Master

2. Once installed, launch the app from your App Drawer.

3. Now use the available options to increase your CPU clock speed and keep on doing so as long as your device doesn’t crash.

4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app as it may lead to crash of your device.

5. Once you’re comfortable with a specific clock speed, close the app.

6. You’re all set!

Excellent! You’ve successfully overclocked your Galaxy Note 2 (AT&T) and now is the perfect time to do some amazing things on your device!

VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):

1. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.

2. Hit the Recovery option and you’ll reboot into the Recovery mode.

3. Once in Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.

4. Restore the most recent backup you see there on the list on your device.

5. Once the backup has been restored, reboot your device.

6. You’re all done!

Brilliant! You’re back to the safe and secure stock kernel with no modifications at all!
