How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Dell Venue
Got your Dell Venue rooted using our procedure and wish to flash a custom recovery on it? No problem, here’s how you can do that. Having a custom recovery on an Android device has many benefits, it lets you take nandroid backups, flash custom ROMs, wipe data and comes with several other features. The guide below teaches how you can flash a custom recovery on your Dell Venue smartphone so you can then get some custom ROMs up and running on your device. Here’s how:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Dell Venue procedure first, finish it, then come back to this one and continue.
2. This should work on Windows based PCs only.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. ClockworkMod Recovery Image (Download link’s given in the first post)
2. Fastboot
III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Dell Venue:
1. Download and place both the files on your Desktop.
2. Extract files from the Fastboot archive over to your Desktop.
3. Rename the Recovery Image to recovery.img.
4. Turn OFF your device.
5. Reboot your device into Fastboot mode. To do so, simply hold down the Volume DOWN+Power buttons together.
6. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
7. Open a Command Prompt Window on your Desktop. To do that, just hold down the Shift button and right-click anywhere on your Desktop and choose Open command window here.
8. Type in following command into the Command Prompt Window you just opened:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
9. It should flash the recovery image on your device, shouldn’t take too long to finish.
10. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.
11. You’re all set!
