I. Before You Begin:

1. You must be rooted before you can do this procedure. If you aren’t rooted already, please head to our root procedure and root your device, then come back to this procedure and continue.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Tethering Provision APK (It’s attached in the first post)

2. ES File ExplorerQR Code (Google Play Link)

III. Enabling WiFi Tethering on the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4:

1. Place the APK file you just downloaded to your Desktop.

2. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable.

3. Copy the APK file over to the root of your SD card.

4. Once the file’s been copied, disconnect your device from your PC.

5. Head over to the Google Play and download and install the ES File Explorer app on your device.

6. Once the app’s been installed, open it from your App Drawer.

7. Go to the /sdcard/ path where you copied the APK file to.

8. Copy the APK file using options available in the app.

9. Now head to /system/app/ directory and you’ll find these two files:

TetheringProvision.apk

TetheringProvision.odex

10. Rename both of these files to:

TetheringProvision.bak

TetheringProvision.bak2

11. Now paste the APK file you copied earlier using the app.

12. Reboot your device.

  1. It fails after renaming. …you have to go back to factory settings and root the galaxy again and use the automatic method from galaxyrooted.com

  2. use “Root Browser” in the play store instead of ES File explorer. it will ask for super user permission and all you have to do is grant access when renaming. all other steps are the same
