How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Star
Once you’ve rooted your Samsung Galaxy Star, you’d rush for the root-only apps that can enhance your experience and let you get the most out of your device. Root-only apps aren’t just limit, you can even upgrade/change your firmware using various custom ROMs if you flash a custom recovery on your device. Fortunately a custom recovery’s available for the aforementioned device and the guide below should walk you through all the required steps to get it up and running on your device in no time. Here you go:
I. Before You Begin:
1. You must have rooted your device before you can do this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Star procedure first, finish it, then return to this procedure and continue.
2. This should only work on Windows based PCs.
II. Downloading Required Files:
1. ClockworkMod Recovery (Download link’s given in the first post)
2. Odin
III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Samsung Galaxy Star:
1. Place both the files you downloaded to your Desktop.
2. Extract files from Odin archive over to your Desktop.
3. Double-click on the Odin executable and it’ll open.
4. Click on PDA and choose the CWM Recovery file you downloaded earlier to your Desktop.
5. Uncheck Repartition if it’s already checked.
6. Checkmark the boxes that say Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time.
7. Turn OFF your device.
8. Reboot your device into Download mode. To do that, simply hold down the Volume DOWN+Home+Power buttons together.
9. Press the Volume UP button to continue to Download mode.
10. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
11. Hit Start in the Odin and it’ll start flashing the recovery on your device.
12. Once the recovery’s been flashed, your device should automatically reboot.
13. You’re all done!
Excellent! You’ve successfully flashed CWM Recovery on your device and you’re now all set to flash any custom ROMs on your device!
