How to Flash a Custom Recovery on the Motorola RAZR i

After gaining root-access on your device, the next thing you should do is flash a custom recovery on it. Having a custom recovery on your device lets you enjoy custom ROMs and Mods available for your device. In addition to that, it helps you backup your current ROM so in case something goes wrong you can easily revert back to the working condition. The Motorola RAZR i has been blessed with CWM Recovery and the guide below shows how you can get it up and running on your device in no time. So go ahead and flash it off!

I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Motorola RAZR i procedure first, finish it, then come back to this one and continue.

2. You must have unlocked bootloader of your device. You can unlock your bootloader by following instructions given here.

3. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, head here and download and install the drivers.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Recovery Flasher (Download link’s available in the first post)

III. Flashing a Custom Recovery on the Motorola RAZR i:

1. Download and place the Recovery Flasher archive onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

4. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.

5. Double-click on the Recovery Flasher batch file (.bat) and it’ll open.

6. Hit ENTER on the first screen and you’ll be taken to the second screen.

7. Once on second screen, type in 3 and hit ENTER.

8. Follow the on-screen instructions, if any.

9. It should begin flashing the recovery on your device and should be done within a couple of minutes.

10. Once the recovery’s been flashed, reboot your device.

11. You’re all set!

Excellent! You’ve successfully flashed a custom recovery on your device and you’re all set to enjoy a number of custom ROMs available for your device!
