How to Root the Samsung Galaxy S4 (AT&T)(Android 4.3)

Did you update your AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4 to Android 4.3 (Build MK2) and it broke root-access? No worries, this guide should help you re-gain root-access on your device. Once rooted, you’ll again be able to install root-only apps, flash custom recoveries and so on. Here’s how:

I. Before You Begin:

1. This will void the warranty of your device. However, you can reinstate the warranty by unrooting your device if there’s any unrooting procedure available.

2. You should have appropriate drivers installed on your PC. If you don’t, head here and get the drivers installed.

II. Downloading Required Files:

1. Root Package (It’s attached in the first post)

III. Rooting the Samsung Galaxy S4 (AT&T) running Android 4.3 (Build MK2):

1. Download and place the Root Package archive onto your Desktop.

2. Extract files from the archive over to your Desktop.

3. Turn ON the USB debugging option on your device by going to Menu>>Settings>>Developer options>>USB debugging.

4. Plug in your device to your PC via USB cable.

5. Double-click on install.bat file available on your Desktop.

6. It’ll start rooting your device, shouldn’t take too long to finish.

7. Once rooted, reboot your device.

8. You’re all done!

Excellent! Your device’s been successfully rooted on Android 4.3 (MK2) and you can start installing root-only apps right away!

    1. Custom recovery does not work on MK2. Following that link at the bottom will possibly brick your phone and will at least leave you without a working recovery.
