How to Get the iOS 6 App Switcher Back in iOS 7 (Video)

Some people love the new card style multitasking switcher introduced in iOS 7, but not everyone is such a fan. A lot of people think the older iOS 6 switcher was more functional; you could see more open apps, close them and switch between them faster, and the cards are just a flashy new icon since they aren’t even live. If you happen to be one of these people and miss the old switcher, too, you’re in luck. Thanks to a jailbreak tweak you can get it back (with additional features too). Here’s how.

I. Jailbreak your iPhone/iPad

To do this procedure you must be jailbroken. If you aren’t, you can head to our Jailbreak How To’s section and pick the jailbreak for your version of iOS (currently at the time of writing this is 7.0.4). Once done with that procedure and you have Cydia installed, head back here to continue.

*Don’t be scared, it’s easy to unjailbreak your device.

II. Install ClassicSwitcher

1. Open Cydia.

2. Tap Search in the bottom right corner.

3. Type in ClassicSwitcher.

4. Tap on ClassicSwitcher when it shows up.

5. Tap Purchase at the top right and follow the prompts to login and purchase using your preferred method.

6. Tap Close when you’ve paid.

7. Tap Install where Purchase used to be.

8. Tap Restart.

III. Setup ClassicSwitcher

1. Go to Settings.

2. Tap on ClassicSwitcher.

3. You can change options here like how many rows, ability to quit all apps, etc.

IV. Use ClassicSwitcher

1. Double tap the home button to bring up the switcher.

2. Tap and hold on any app to close it and swipe to get to other rows of apps.

3. Swipe from left to right on the row of apps to close all apps (if that is enabled).
